Piracy kills creativity? Nah..just kills your wallet.

The usual gang watched 三岔口 on saturday, trying to capitalise on the last day before movie tickets become ever more expensive. We noticed a totally uncreative poster on the way into the cinema that shouts "Piracy kills creativity!" How true. 三岔口turned out to be the (oh not again..) indistinguishable police flick with the hundreds of exploding cars, a thin plot trying to be thick and yeah, chases that never end.

Amidst all that yawning, butt scratching and leg stretching, df commented that he will now think twice about going to hk (he hasnt!? omg!) because he is afraid of dying a horrible death from the

  1. large number of (exploding) car crashes in hk
  2. sniper fire/ grenade explosions/ parang hacks/ wire strangles from the killers in hk

So serious hor? Never thought that piracy affects toursim also. What next? Piracy accelerates greying population? Piracy crashes stock market? Who/what to blame? bit torrent? BT users like em..me? But then again..

Piracy

happens because of..

expensive movie tickets and substandard movies and lower viewer satisfaction

which results in..

less revenue for movie makers and lower budget films

that gives rise to

lower quality films

which means

more BT downloads because people dont feel their money is well spent with maximum satisfaction at the cinemas..

which eventually brings about..

Aiyah.. its labour day today. Not supposed to think too much. You all go and think. I'm done for the day. Back to my 學警雄心downloads, for now.

actually the movie is quite nice loh. it's a lot more than the explosions. the explosions r just cover up. it's a bt something very psycholgoical. actually is a story abt love n honesty. i know it sounds stupid n weird la. but i guess is abt reading thru the lines. it depends on what kind of attitude u r bringing to watch a show. bcos i knew the show is more than just tt, i have fine tuned myself to what i m suppose to expect so i indeed gotten the msg. anyway, no matter how, piracy does kill creativity. if the movie/music is good, but not appreciated, den piracy really kills it. BUT, if the movie sucks, den piracy doesnt kill creativity what, bcos the movie doesnt have creativity in the first place.

so the correct way to phrase is, piracy kills creativity? yes. piracy kills movie industry? no. it just kills ur wallet, esp if is a lousy show.

ya....gotta get the word right ok. as someone doing script writing, if u really do something good but not appreciated, being pirated, it really doesnt feel good.
