It felt really warm to find these people on the streets yesterday.
The primary school kids who donated without a second thought. It might have been just 50 cents, but it was probably half of what they had with them.
The guy who purposely bought a drink to get spare change to donate.
The amiable aunties who made small talk with us and never hesitated to donate a second time.
Those who still gave you a polite smile as a gesture of rejection, depite being asked for the 3th time.
Then again, there were those who totally ignored you, those who literally played hide and seek with you behind a pillar, those who made snide-but-not-so-funny remarks about peanuts, and those who thought it was really amusing to pretend to donate.
And there was this specific genre of people whom i shall not name here I totally scoff at. So some people ignore me. To be truthful, i too, ignore flaggers sometimes - if im in foul mood. But there's a glaring distinction between indifference and despise. These motherfuckers took a glance at you with contempt and walked away with an air of self proclaimed superiority, as if you were some bruised and tattered beggar whose life was totally dependent on their contribution of 20cents.
May you go bankrupt and be turned away from assistance by the very charities you've looked down upon. Show me the ego then, fuckers.
ps. dont ask me which group of people are those. I just wanna say there are so many (and ever increasing) of em in singapore and im starting to dread it. Aiyah if you dont know just ask me in person lah.
